Kickstart Your Design Career

This term in Kickstart Your Design Career, students were introduced to basic jewellery hand-fabrication skills.

For Part A of the CAT, students learned saw piercing, drilling, filing and polishing skills using hand tools and machinery. They focused on the cold-connection technique of riveting and tested out the properties of copper, brass and nickel silver.

Part B of the CAT was to conduct an interview with an end-user and make and design a pair of functional earrings for them. Students even made their own sterling silver earrings findings for their piece. I am so impressed with their work ethic and attention to detail when making their designs!
