2025 House Captains
House Points:
Great to see so many students making positive choices and being awarded house points. Continue to be kind to yourself and others and earn your house points.
Congratulation to Wattle for winning the Term Two house point challenge. You will receive your free dress day early in Term Three (date TBC)
Foundation:
Over the past three weeks, the Foundation students have been exposed to the core skills involved with the game soccer such as dribbling, passing and shooting. To practise these skills, the students worked with a partner to develop confidence around controlling the ball between their feet. Once they practised this for some time, they moved towards passing and trapping the ball. It was great to watch their confidence grow during these activities. The next part of the unit saw the students work around different stations to practise dribbling around cones, passing accuracy and shooting for goal.
The Foundation students also completed their health task for the term which looked at resilience strategies they can use when faced with both learning and personal challenges.
Year One/Two
Over the past three weeks, the Year One/Two have been have been refining and practising the core skills involved with the game soccer such as dribbling, passing and shooting. To practise these skills the students worked with a partner to develop confidence around controlling the ball between their feet. Once they practised this for some time, they moved towards passing and trapping the ball. It was great to watch their confidence grow during these activities. The next part of the unit saw the students work around different stations to practise dribbling around cones, passing accuracy and shooting for goal.
At the completion of the unit the Year Two students played a game of indoor soccer which allowed them to apply the skills in modified match play.
Year One - The Year One students completed their health task for this term which looked at packing a healthy lunch from select foods. The students could choose to cut the foods out and stick them into different sections to reflect brain food, snack and lunch.
Year Two - The Year Two students completed their health task for the term which looked at a social study around how to be a good friend. Students worked either with a partner or on their own to complete a booklet which had a vast range of activities to help the students understand ways and things they can do to be a good friend.
Year Three/Four
Over the past three weeks, the Year Three/Four students began a new unit which involved playing Invasion games. The purpose of this unit was to enable the students to work on their teamwork and strategy skills. We played games such as Thief and Yoshi to allow the students to apply these skills. It was great to watch them all cooperate respectfully and responsibly in their teams.
The students also completed their health/sport classroom lesson. The students were tasked with researching their favourite sports athlete and presenting the information in a given template.
Year Five/Six
Over the past three weeks, the Year Five/Six students began a new unit which involved playing Invasion games. The purpose of this unit was to enable the students to work on their teamwork and strategy skills. We played games such as Thief and Yoshi to allow the students to apply these skills. It was great to watch them all cooperate respectfully and responsibly in their teams.
The 5/6 students also completed a health lesson around three of the core sources of fuel the body requires (Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats). The students had to create an information poster to describe their choice of the body's fuel and look at aspects of how the body can the get it, where can they get it from, why is it important and when does the body need it.
Hooptime
On Tuesday 1st July, forty-eight Year Three/Four students represented our school at the District Hooptime Carnival at the State Basketball Centre. Over the day, the students competed in a number of games against other schools. To witness the teamwork and comradery on display from our students was an honour.
There were some fantastic results over the day but the most pleasing aspect was how much fun the students were having on the basketball court.
Congratulations to our Future Stars Boys team who were crowned District Champions and will now compete at the Region Stage later in the year.
On Thursday 3rd July, selected Year Five/Six students represented our school at the District Hooptime Carnival. Over the day, the students competed in a number of games against other schools. To witness the teamwork and comradery on display from our students was an honour. This was reflected in the number of students willing to play multiple games and help out our rookie side which were down to four players for the day.
We had three teams make the grand final on the day, USPS Unicorns, USPS Seals and USPS Stingrays. Congratulations to the Stingrays who have progressed to the Region Stage later in the year.
