Ms Chrissy Collins, Head of Curriculum
I’ve always believed that when opportunity knocks, you should swing the door wide open and step through. Throughout my career, as both an educator and a foodie, I’ve felt incredibly fortunate for the varied roles I have been invited to contribute to, both in the classroom and beyond. Opportunities such as working with the VCAA and ACARA have provided a chance to helping shape contemporary Food Education, both at a State and National level.
From the hum of the classroom, to the clatter of the kitchen, I’ve loved every moment that I get to bring learning to life. Foods curriculum has changed over the last ten years. As society redefines their understandings about foods, we look for ways to learn how to grow and source food, how to eat for health, and how to create budget-friendly, nutrient dense meals that inspire and spark joy in the kitchen. This journey is enabled through curriculum to help students connect, transform and stimulate thinking about food and health, both now and in the future.
The goal of our Foods curriculum is to empower young people, our future leaders and food citizens to see the connections in all your do, building skills for life. I also hope when opportunity knocks, you confidently open the door, ready to begin.
