From The Nurse

Pinworms are common in children and can spread through contaminated surfaces, soil, food, or poor hand hygiene. Symptoms may include an itchy bottom (especially at night), stomach aches, reduced appetite, feeling generally unwell, disturbed sleep, nausea, or irritability.
To help prevent the spread of worms, encourage regular handwashing, keep fingernails short and clean, avoid nail-biting, wash bedding and clothing regularly, and ensure daily bathing.
If you think your child has worms, speak with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about treatment. In some cases, all household members may need treatment to prevent reinfection. A second dose is often taken two weeks later.
To help prevent spread, wash hands regularly, keep fingernails short, avoid nail-biting, bathe daily, and wash bedding and clothing frequently.
