Student Wellbeing

Supporting Our School Community

As many of you are aware, our school community experienced a very difficult event last Friday following a medical emergency that sadly resulted in the passing of a valued staff member. This was an upsetting and emotional time for many, and we recognise that both students and staff may continue to process what happened in different ways.

During the incident, students and staff were required to remain indoors for an extended period while emergency services attended. While this was necessary to ensure everyone’s safety, it may have left some children feeling unsettled or confused.

Children may show signs of grief or trauma in different ways, they might seem more tired or emotional, have trouble concentrating, ask repeated questions, or show changes in behaviour such as withdrawal, irritability, or clinginess. These are all normal responses to distressing events.

If you notice any changes in your child or feel that they need extra support, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our wellbeing team is available to talk with students and families, and we can also connect you with additional support if needed.

We thank our community for the care and compassion shown to one another during this difficult time.
