STAGE 3 NEWS

English

This term we are focusing on the text Azaria: A true History by Maree Coote for our reading and writing programs.  This text discusses the story of the missing child Azaria Chamberlain and the subsequent imprisoning of her mother Lindy.  Students are using the text for it’s themes as well as the Australian outback content to focus on poetic devices in our writing.

Maths

In Mathematics students have been converting fractions, decimals and percentages.  They have used these skills to find the percentage of a variety of numbers and items.  Students have used these skills to find new price of items if they are reduced by a percentage.

Geography

In Geography students will be exploring the significance of Uluru to Aboriginal Peoples and better understand caring for country practices.  They will be collaborating on a project to design a sustainability plan that respects Country and Aboriginal traditions.

PDHPE

In our 30-minute P.E sessions throughout the week we have 2 sports focuses.  The Emus have been focusing on the skills and rules required to play volleyball. The Dingos have been focusing their attention on the variety of skills needed for cricket.

This term, Stage 2 and Stage 3 have been enjoying their Friday afternoon sports sessions. Students selected their preferred activities from options including line dancing, tennis/pickleball, touch football, gardening/ball games, and flexibility and strength training. The students are really enjoying taking part in these sessions. A special thank you to Olivia O'Neill for coaching the tennis sessions — the students are gaining great benefits from her expertise.
