In case you missed it, we had 4 students attend the PSSA State Championships in Sydney last week.  Beau Matthew, Oliver, Nixon and Brodie competed in a range of events, with Nixon and Oliver reaching personal bests in the 200m and the team reaching a PB in the relay.  We are very proud of you!

Grandparents

Last Friday we invited grandparents and friends into our school to celebrate 'Grandparents Day'.  It was wonderful to see the strong bonds between generations as families came together to share in the students’ learning and school environment. The smiles, stories, and laughter throughout the classroom activities and lunch time picnic truly highlighted the important role grandparents play in our school community.  Thank you for coming in to share the day with us.

AFL

Thank you to all the students who participated in our AFL Primary School Clinic last week! It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and skill on display.  The clinic provided a great opportunity for students to learn new techniques, stay active, and have fun with their friends. We look forward to more sporting events like this in the future!

PAX Word of the fortnight: IMMERSE

Immerse means to involve yourself deeply in an activity or environment.

Immerse at our school looks like ENGAGING IN LEARNING BECAUSE YOU IMMERSE YOURSELF IN LEARNING.

Today we IMMERSED ourselves in the special interest groups. These groups cultivated curiosity and challenged us.

Special Interest Group Day

Today we held our special interest group day, allowing students to immerse themselves into areas of interest for their learning.  The day was broken into 2 sessions of approximately one hour.  Sessions included

  • coding and robotics
  • cooking
  • rock painting
  • art and crafts
  • dance
  • stem activities
  • fairy potions
  • woomera throwing.... just to name a few!

We waited nervously to see what the weather would deliver but it didn't stop an amazing, creative day!  Thank you to all the teachers for providing a great choice of activities for the students and to Thalgarrah who was also part of the day.

This is an approach our school will embrace further in 2026, identifying opportunities for students to access High Potential and Gifted Education opportunities. We look forward to our Outdoor Learning Day, later in the term that will provide a similar experience for your children.

This Friday 31st October, Costa Georgiadis will be visiting our school!  Costa is an Australian author, landscape architect, environmental educator and television presenter.  Costa is also the host of ABC television series Gardening Australia and previously appeared as 'Costa the Garden Gnome' in the ABC Kids program Get Grubby TV.  We are all very excited to show him our gardening projects and nature play area.

Next week we look forward to our first 2026 Kindergarten transition day.  We cannot wait to welcome our new kindergarten students to come and try our school for the morning.  Parents are invited to attend an information session in the MPC while the students have fun at 'big school'.  We hope to see you all there next Tuesday, 4th November from 9:30-11.

Keep your eye on our What's Happening notifications and the school Facebook page for everything MGPS!!  Have a wonderful week!
