NSWCIS Athletics Athlete of the Meet
Isabella Jabboury achieved the rare feat of being named the NSWCIS Female Athlete of the Meet after her amazing performances at the NSWCIS Primary Championships.
Isabella is the first Kambala student to be named Athlete of the Meet. It is incredible to be named the Athlete of the Meet knowing CIS represents every independent school in NSW. Isabella won Gold in the High Jump improving her personal best to 1.31m. She also won Bronze in the 100m and Long Jump. She also ran the second leg of the relay with our incredibly talented Junior Relay team of Francesca Brown, Georgie Ross and Sage Somerville who improved their time from IPSHA by over a second to win a Silver medal.
Isabella will have a big individual program at the NSW PSSA Championships as well as the excitement of being part of the Junior relay team who are aiming for a successful run at State.

Year 3 Netball Season Wrap-Up
Last Saturday 13 September marked the final week of Year 3 netball. After a season that began with lots of wet weather and a few missed games, we were lucky to finish on a high with beautiful weather and our mini gala day.
The girls have all improved tremendously and I can already see some future netball superstars in the making!
Well done to all of the teams on a fantastic term of netball.

MLC Water Polo Wrap-Up
It’s been a great term of water polo at MLC, perfectly preparing the teams for the upcoming IGSA Water Polo competition. Our teams finished strong, both securing wins in their final matches and showcasing impressive skill and teamwork throughout the term.
I am sure the highlight of the term has been the bus trips and McDonalds stops on the way home!
Well done to all on a great term of Water Polo.

House Netball and Touch Finals
On Friday 12 September, during Open Day, the Junior School House Netball and Touch finals took place. The spirit was high as the teams were eager to showcase their skills on the court and field.
The Netball final featured a thrilling match between Hawthorne and Wentworth. Hawthorne started strong, quickly building a 6-0 lead by halftime. To Wentworth’s credit, they never gave up and began scoring at a rapid pace. In the end, Hawthorne proved too strong, securing a narrow 6-5 victory.
Well done to both teams for an incredible display of talent and house spirit!
The Touch final followed, with Hawthorne facing Gurney in a quick turnaround. With the first try worth three points and each subsequent try worth two, the opening score was always going to be decisive. Hawthorne struck early to take the lead, but Gurney fought back, scoring late to set up a thrilling finish. In the end, Hawthorne’s defence held firm, securing the win. Congratulations to all players on an excellent display of touch football.

Senior A Hockey IGSA Champions!
Our Senior A Hockey team played arch rivals Ascham in the Grand Final. Kambala scored in the first half to go into half time 1-0 in what was a very tight contest. Ascham and Kambala both had opportunities to score in the second half and it looked like Polly Roche Kambala had scored off a short corner to go 2-0 up. Unfortunately, the goal was disallowed and with only 10 seconds to go Ascham had a shot from a short corner. But the Kambala defence shut it down and it was a win to Kambala! The Kambala team only had 11 players, and they showed courage and determination to play every minute of the game. Congratulations to the team on the epic win!
Senior A Hockey Team - Sophie Alexander, Mirabelle Beaumont- Sopp, Zara Farren, Hilary Guilfoyle, Frankie Johnston, Annabelle Knox, Caroline Lin, Poppy Nuthall, Polly Roche, Zanna Rose, Quincy Sheldrick.
Year 7 Basketball Runners Up
Kambala Year 7 Basketball had a great run to the Grand final when they defeated first place in the semi to secure a place in the 701 Grand Final. The team fought hard from start to finish but couldn’t quite match their opposition. The improvement of the girls has been remarkable across the two terms. It would be fair to say Term 2 was a struggle, but the team never stopped trying and it was exciting to see their hard work pay off with a place in the Grand Final. We are very proud of you all and the effort and commitment you have shown to each other.
Well done to Iolanthe Sallos- Beechey, Minty Dusseldorp, Holly Gong, Luna Hare, Cayley Hung, Hannah Lawson, Angela Li, Ariel Li, Erykah Skimin, Scarlett White

Netball History Made!
On Saturday, 20 September, a historic milestone was achieved for the Kambala netball program. In our ninth season competing in the RNA competition, we delivered our most successful performance to date.
We had a record number of teams, 7, competing in the grand finals, and an unprecedented 5 of those teams brought home the win. To say I’m proud is an understatement.
Congratulations to all our players and coaches on an incredible season of club netball. A special thank you to the families, staff, and students who came out in force to support our teams. It was especially heartwarming to see the Kambala hockey team come to cheer on our Senior A netball team.
Here’s how our grand final day unfolded:
Kambala 13 Years Blue
Kicking off the day with our first of five victories, this team showed tremendous improvement every week, and it all came together on Saturday. After losing to Randwick 22–9 in the semi-final, we entered the grand final as underdogs, just how we like it! The girls started strong and despite a brief comeback from Randwick in the second quarter, never looked like losing. They finished 10 goals ahead. Well done to all players and coach Coco!
Kambala 10
This team has had an exceptional season. Not only are they a group of talented players, but they’ve also shown kindness, dedication, and team spirit throughout. In the grand final they faced Double Bay Diamonds, the only team to have beaten them during the season. But this time, Kambala 10 was unstoppable, securing the win by 9 goals. Well done Kambala 10.
Kambala 12
What a journey! This team came together from different teams last year and steadily improved every week. They faced St Cath’s, who had been dominant all season and were previously undefeated by Kambala, until Saturday! After a slow start, the girls turned things around in the second quarter and never looked back. Final result was a win by 6 goals. Well done Kambala 12!
Kambala 14
This team started the season in Division 4 but quickly proved they belonged in a higher division. After being moved up mid-season, they fought hard to secure a spot in the semi-finals, defeating every team in the new division along the way. They faced a tough opponent in Mascot for the grand final. Although Mascot came out on top, our girls showed grit and determination until the very end. Well done Kambala 14 on an amazing debut season!
Kambala 7
From a group of friends to grand final champions! Kambala 7 faced Saints, a tough opponent in previous matches but nothing was going to stop them this time. Calm under pressure and focused throughout, the girls dominated the match. The final result was a 43–18 win.A brilliant victory and a well-deserved reward. Congratulations girls!
Kambala 2
Kambala 2 became the first ever Kambala Senior B team to make it to an RNA grand final. With a mix of Year 9 to Year 12 students, they bonded into a cohesive and competitive unit. They started strong against a formidable Rose Bay Secondary College team, even leading at halftime. Though RBSC eventually edged ahead, Kambala 2’s performance was amazing. Well done to all players on a great season!
Kambala 1 - Senior A
In one of the most thrilling matches ever, our Senior A team took on local rivals KRB. After a strong start and an 8-goal lead, KRB fought back to take the lead in the final minutes. With just seconds remaining and Kambala down by one, Kalia took a shot right as the siren sounded, and it went in! Tie game. We headed into extra time—five minutes each way. KRB led 2–1 at the break but our girls, spurred on by incredible crowd support, stormed home to win by 3 goals. This marks our first-ever Inters Division 1 championship and is the perfect culmination of nine years of hard work. What a finish!
This season was more than just about wins. It was about progress, teamwork, resilience, and community spirit. Every player, coach and supporter, contributed to this historic moment for Kambala netball.
Here’s to an even bigger and better 10th season. Go Kambala!
