After a few months of waiting the results are finally in for this year’s Science Talent Search. The 20 students who participated from Golf Links have done an amazing job and we recognised their effort and commitment at Monday's assembly by presenting them with their certificates. All projects submitted by RGLPS students were of a good standard or greater. This is a huge achievement for everyone who participated.

Prep - This term, students will be focusing on Earth and space science; learning about the weather and how it affects our daily lives. This week, we continued to discuss what we noticed about the daily weather. Students completed their activity identifying what they would wear, what they would do and where they would go in different types of weather. You will be able to see their work on Seesaw.
Years 1/2 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and learning to follow the engineering design process. The focus will be on turning ideas into solutions. This week, we focused on completing our Snail STEM challenge and beginning an Ant STEM challenge. Students are required to build their model and then test it against the specific criteria given at the beginning of the challenge. You will be able to see students' snail builds on Seesaw.
Years 3/4 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to create suitable solutions to problems. This week, we continued working on our Zipline STEM challenge, where students need to build a suitable zipline carrier for Lego people. Students worked to finish building their zipline carrier and then create a zipline to test whether the carrier was suitable given the specific criteria given at the beginning of the challenge.
Years 5/6 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to evaluate, refine and improve their solutions. This week, we continued working on our Balloon Car STEM challenge, where students need to build a balloon-powered car that can travel at least 1m in a straight line. Students worked to finish building their balloon car and then test the car against predefined criteria. Where criteria is not met, students are encouraged to problem-solve, identifying what isn't working and making improvements to their build.
