Buddy Bench

Buddy Bench

Late last year, Sadie in year two wanted to make a difference to the school yard. She saw a need for children who had lost their friends or had nobody to play with. Sadie decided to act. She wrote a letter to the Ocean Grove Men’s Shed requesting they make a ‘Buddy Bench’ for our school. Her teacher Miss Swan helped her, and she added some pictures before it was delivered. When she came back to school at the start of the year, she was surprised to see the new Buddy Bench sitting outside her classroom with a balloon tied to it. Due to the amount of construction and temporary fencing in the school grounds, unfortunately it has taken a long time to have the bench secured near the new playground. Sadie said she felt very proud of what she had achieved. She also wanted to thank the Men’s Shed for donating the chair.

On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank Sadie and the Ocean Grove Men’s Shed for making a difference to OGPS.
