Year 5 Camp - Willow Creek🏄♀️
In Week 10 of Term 3, the Year 5 students from Emmaus Christian College, Brooklyn Park Campus, embarked on an unforgettable three-day adventure at Willow Creek Adventure Camp. Nestled near Victor Harbor on South Australia’s stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, the camp, hosted by Beyond the Classroom, offered a rich mix of outdoor challenges, team-building activities, and plenty of fun.
Day One: Wednesday
The excitement began as students boarded the bus and headed straight to Middleton Beach. There, they participated in a surfing lesson before diving into the waves to put their new skills to the test. After a splash-filled morning, the afternoon brought sandy competition with Beach Olympics, a series of team games on shore. The day wrapped up with a creative twist called Sculptitory, a lively team game combining charades and Pictionary, but using playdough.
Day Two: Thursday
Thursday started with a hands-on go-kart challenge where students built, raced and dismantled their carts in teams. The adventure continued with an orienteering course around the Willow Creek property, encouraging navigation, teamwork and problem-solving. In the afternoon, students learned bush survival skills by constructing shelters, applying their orienteering knowledge in real-world settings and hiking through the picturesque bushland. The activities ended around a campfire where students cooked and enjoyed delicious damper on sticks.
Day Three: Friday
Friday morning was all about packing up and preparing for the final day’s adventures. After making their own packed lunches, students travelled to Victor Harbor. Split into two groups, they rotated through kayaking and raft-building activities, soaking up the last moments of camp before returning to school by bus, tired but full of stories.
Student Highlights
Here’s what some of our Year 5 campers had to say:
Jonathan - “I liked the activities on the beach and the orienteering where we had to follow the map.”
Zac - “My favourite part about camp was the food. I liked all the food and going to camp with my friends.”
Joshua - “I liked playing volleyball with my friends. We had a really good rally. I also liked bush survival as we got to make our own tent using our imagination.”
David - “I would say that orienteering was my favourite because it was cool to explore the campgrounds and follow maps.”
Elspeth -“My favourite part about camp was the damper cooking. We got to make it and roast it on a stick over the fire.”

There will be gluten-free options available for toppings.
Please encourage our students with your purchases on Tuesday morning 😊
STEM Challenge – Puff Cars!
In Week 10 of Term 3, classes 2K and 3/4S joined forces for an exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) challenge! Each group was given just one piece of paper, two straws, a length of masking tape, and four musk lifesavers to design and build their very own Puff Car.
Students were encouraged to collaborate, problem-solve, and use their creativity to make their designs unique and effective. Once the cars were ready, everyone gathered to test them — seeing how far each one could travel with just a single puff of air!
After lots of laughter, cheering, and clever designs, Joie and Laura’s car rolled the farthest and took out the top prize. Congratulations to our winners, and well done to all students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and fantastic effort!

Highlights from Water Safety Week🏊♂️
In Week 9 of Term 3, all Foundation to Year 2 students from the South Plympton and Brooklyn Park campuses participated in the Water Safety Program at SA Aquatic (Marion Indoor Swimming Centre).
In addition to students' high level of excitement, it was a fantastic experience to develop and apply their swimming safety skills and knowledge. Students need to learn those water safety skills as a preventative way for themselves or others who may possibly experience harm in the enjoyable aquatic environments.
The program was conducted by qualified swimming instructors, and each session progressed by building on the previous session's teachings.
