Hi this is Layla, along with Mercy and Anna we are your 2025 environmental captains and marine ambassadors. This year we have raised $380 dollars from the 10c bins and in total we have collected 3,800 bottles. We also have a 10c bin just near the music room so please collect as many bottles, cans and juice boxes as you can to try and help make money for things like the kitchen garden and more projects around the school . But make sure that it has a 10c barcode and it’s not scrunched up.

Hi I’m Mercy and I’m one of this year's 2025 marine ambassadors. Yesterday we had an incursion with the green warriors from grade 4 to grade 6. One of the things we learned about were linear and circular models. The linear model is when we take from the environment , make something from or with it and dispose of it which then ends up in landfill. The circular model is when we make something then use it and recycle it. The difference between the linear model and the circular model is that the linear model can only be used once and the item ends up in land fill and the ocean. However the circular model reuses the item and can repurpose it so that it doesn't end up in land fill.

Hi I’m Anna and I'm one of this year 2025 marine ambassadors. If you didn’t know how the plastic bottles are made, I assure you it is horrible and disgusting. The plastic that we use for our water bottles is made from crude oil and gas which we only have a limited amount of. It is just plainly horrible for our planet and over time degrades and turns into micro plastics which are tiny particles of plastic. It makes up 80% of our waste in the ocean which is continually growing and piling up creating islands. The plastic damages the whole ecosystem and pulls down the population of animals especially marine animals.

We also learned how materials like glass bottles, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans are made. A glass bottle starts with sand mined from an open pit. The sand is heated and melted into glass, then blown into a mould of a bottle. After use, it can be recycled, melted again, and made into a new bottle.

The incursion was amazing and gave us a new view on waste and ways we can improve our planet. Also another reminder, we have a 10c bin near the music room and we only take bottles, cans and even the juice boxes from snack shack with the 10c logo and a visible barcode. Thank you

Hi I’m Josh, one of your environmental captains. On canteen days you will see some of these students carrying these bags around to collect the juice boxes from the canteen . Please take out the straw and pop your juice box in the bag. Every box gets 10...
