Message from Liz

It is the end of Term One.

The last 9 weeks have flown by and so much has been achieved.

Thank you to our Families and Supporters for the commitment to our school, children and learning. A considerable amount of time and energy has been put into events this term (Elmore Charity Ball, Welcome Night, Tractor Pull, Golden Hammer Day, Raffle, garden). All of these events required families and supporters to give of their time and in some instances funds were raised for our school. We cannot continue to grow and create learning spaces and opportunities without your support.

Parents and Friends update

Meeting - 16th April @ 9.30am

The Parents and Friends association decided at the Annual Meeting to offer a daytime meeting each term  with the hope that more families may be able to attend.

Please pop this date in your calendar.

Catering Committee

At the AGM on Wednesday evening, Becky O'Sullivan took on the role of Catering Officer. She is looking for a team of helpers. If you are interested in joining Becky's team, please let her know OR alternatively, let me (Liz) know and I will pass your information onto Becky.

Raffle

We had 39 prizes and raised over $1800 dollars!

That is $18 per child raised! That's so good.

Thank you to everyone that sold / bought tickets.

Big thank you to Jodie Belz and her team for their work in organising the raffle.

Music Bingo - Friday 3rd May

This adults only event will be held in the pavilion.

We are looking to borrow electric patio heaters for the evening. If you can help with this, please let Liz know.

Flood Restoration - Bay Building

The final meeting was held with Bay Building on Tuesday. This marked the end of our structural restoration. It has been an incredible 17 months and we are so very grateful for the work that Bay Building have done during this time.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would become familiar with the language of engineers, surveyors and builders. The role of principal is constantly evolving!

There are still projects to complete and they would happen quickly if they were the only things on the list, so thank you for your patience as we continue to restore and reimagine our outdoor spaces.

ADDITIONAL PUPIL FREE DAY

Catholic Education Sandhurst have granted us an additional Pupil Free Day on Monday 6th May. The purpose of this is to complete the final clean out of the resources that are being stored in the container. All staff will be working on this day to make sure this is the last of the sorting. We are very grateful to CESL for this support.

Attendance

As mentioned in the last newsletter we are seeing some concerning trends in attendance. At the end of Term 1, our attendance data is showing that we have serious absence concerns. This data is shared with Catholic Education Sandhurst regularly.

If you or your child needs support to attend school, please don't hesitate to speak with your child's teacher, Jessica Carmichael as Wellbeing Leader or myself.

EXTENDED LEAVE - FAMILY HOLIDAYS

If your family is going on an extended holiday, we ask that you inform us in writing. While a conversation with your child's teacher is important, our school records required this to be in writing.

SAVE THE DATE: Adults only evening in the Pavilion

As we embark upon the joyous celebration of Easter and the beginning of our school holidays, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound significance of this sacred time.

Easter is a season of hope, renewal, and rebirth. It is a time to rejoice in the triumph of light over darkness, of life over death. As Catholics, we are reminded of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and the promise of salvation that it brings.

During this break from learning and routine, let us not only cherish moments of rest and relaxation but also embrace the opportunity for spiritual growth and reflection.

Let us carry the lessons of compassion, forgiveness, and love that Easter teaches us into our interactions with others and into the world around us.

May the spirit of Easter fill your hearts with peace, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Wishing you all a blessed and Happy Easter!
