Our Hapori Project from 2023
We have been very busy in and around school. Our writing results at the end of 2023 were disappointing, so we have been focusing on writing across the school.
Last Thursday we went to the Tip Top Ice-cream Factory. We had a wonderful visit that included a delcious ice-cream. We learned that there are vegetables in ice-cream and that New Zealanders eat a lot of ice-cream! :-) You might have heard that we got stuck behind a truck that had reversed across Carbine Road and brought the whole area to a standstill.
Next Friday it is whole school assembly. You are invited along to watch your children share their learning. We start at 9am and are finished by 9.30am at the latest. You are invited to have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards.
Please remember that swimming is part of the curriculum and the children are expected to swim. The pool is heated!
You are still able to swim after school in exchange for a gold coin donation. The school is also available for party hire over the weekend.
Our annual swimming carnival will be held on Friday 22 March 2024 at 1.30pm. Everyone takes part and has fun doing novelty races. We would love it if you could come along and support the children.
Congratulations to James Hawkes who is our new Board member.
Your children should come home today and ask you to start and collect chip packets. We are joining with Sustainable Pare to collect foil-lined chip packets to make into emergency blankets. Someone will come in on Friday 17 May and use the packets to make a blanket. The packets need to be whole and foil lined (silver).
Just a reminder that school is closed for Easter from Friday 29 March to Tuesday 2 April inclusive. School will reopen on Wednesday 3 April at 8.55am.
Please make sure that you book your child into Before and After School Care by either emailing office@ridgeview.school.nz or phoning the school on 027 593 5963.
I am still looking for opportunities to take small groups of children (3 or 4) into the community on Friday morning for an hour or two. If you know of someone we could help or something we could do, please make contact with the school.
Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform. This is for all children.
Our telephone number is 027 593 5963.
