This week has been Planning Week for the teachers, so the students have had a bit of a different timetable to adapt to. I have been so impressed with how they have been in Science this week with all the changes, from Foundation students to Year 6, we have had an amazing week of learning.

The Year 6 students have been exploring Australian dinosaurs and megafauna. This has been connected to why certain species die out, but also dinosaurs and giant marsupials are very cool to learn about!

The Year 5 students have also been studying prehistoric life, but in the form of plants. Looking at fossil evidence, timelines and evolution, students rounded off their learning with the creation of a salt dough fossil.

The Foundation students also explored our distant history, although they were making trace fossils using salt dough. Trace fossils are those that show the traces that life existed in the past, footprints, scratches, evidence of a hunt, even poop are all trace fossils.

This week’s movie recommendation comes from our learning about the past.
