Here at Skye Primary School a part of our maths learning is the integration of maths games to help students collaborate and build their fluency and understanding skills.
Games are an excellent way to make learning enjoyable and accessible, especially when it comes to subjects like mathematics. They offer a hands-on, interactive way to explore mathematical concepts, encourage critical thinking, and foster problem-solving skills.
Playing games with family members not only strengthens bonds but also creates a supportive environment for learning. It allows children to see the practical applications of mathematical concepts in a relaxed setting, which can enhance their understanding and retention of those concepts.
Why not check out the Love Maths website linked here and have a go at playing some fun maths games with your children at home. Alternatively ask your children to teach you one of the maths games they have learnt recently.
Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2: Give '5 Moves to 100' a go
Grade 3, 4 ,5 & 6: Give 'Double Double Cross' a go
