Composting at Monty PS

To the untrained eye the image below may look like an unsightly mess, but not to the students at Monty Primary. It was exciting to lift up the compost bin and witness worms munching away at our lunch scraps and turning it into beautiful soil for our veggie garden. 

We learned that through composting we're trying to mimic the natural process of the forest floor with insects, microbes and fungi working hard to clean up and break down organic matter to support plant life - how amazing!
