Welcome to Term Two
Welcome to Term Two! We have already had such a wonderful beginning to the term and we still have so much to look forward to. Students have settled so well back into the routine of school which has been wonderful to see.
We have so far has Year 5/6 camp (more about camp below), athletics day and swimming! Still to come this term we have 5/6 winter sports, athletics (selected students only), the start of electives in Week 5 (17th May), Hoop Time and of course lots of Production practice.
We look forward to fun and exciting Term Two.
Inquiry - Overview
In Inquiry this Term, students will be studying Geography in the unit 'Around the World'. Student have begun exploring the world map using an Atlas and online resources. So far this term we have looked at and located the equator and which countries it runs through, identified the Northern and Southern hemispheres, explored the international date line, looked at the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn and names and labeled the different continents.
For the remainder of term, students will be exploring a different country each week and completing a fact file about the country. Students will need to locate the country on a world map, draw the country flag, research cultural celebrations, identify landmarks and list different foods.
Camp
On Wednesday 17th April - Friday 19th April, Year 5/6 students went on camp to Campaspe Downs in Tylden. We had so much fun at camp!
We did rock climbing, flying fox, hut building, sensory trails, archery and more. We walked from morning to night and defiantly get our steps up! We ate an abundance of nutritious food, drank a lot of water and went to bed every single night with full tummies. We stayed up chatting in our cabins until late into the night, but most importantly, we made memories with our friends that will last a lifetime.
Many of our students stepped up to the challenges and went well outside of their comfort zones. As teachers we were proud of the teamwork, determination and persistence shown by all our students while away from home.
A big thank you to our parent helpers David and Adrian for all of your help while on camp.
Enjoy some photos of our time at camp :)
Swimming
This week, students participated in the Swimming Program held at Knox Leisureworks. The program ran for the entire week, with the last day providing an opportunity for students to apply their skills across a range of fun and engaging water activities. Students had a great time at the pool.
