Book Week 2025!

Author Talks
We were fortunate this year to be visited by two talented authors, RM McGurk and Damian Callinan.
Ruth McGurk, a teacher and author, spoke to our junior students about the process of writing a story and letting creativity lead the way. Students loved brainstorming their own imaginative story ideas with Ruth.
Damian Callinan, a comedian and author, had our Middle and Senior students in stitches. He spoke about his novel Weird School and kept everyone thoroughly entertained!
We were also delighted that Damian shared a lovely message about our school on his Instagram—something we really appreciate!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
As in past years, we hosted a range of Book Week competitions where students could showcase their drawing, writing and creative ideas. And wow—were the entries fantastic!
We are so proud of every entry we received —there were hundreds! While staff voted on winners in each category, we’ll make sure every student who entered is recognised. Please enjoy some of our entries below.
Finish The Comic!
Students were challenged to finish a comic strip featuring a poor banana, minding its own business, stumbling across a cheeky monkey! Congratulations to Mokki, Paulina and Jacqui for winning this category!
Animals and their Jobs!
In this competition, students came up with silly names for a range of farm animals and decided what “jobs” they might do! The results were hilarious—we’re not sure you’d want to actually hire these animals though! Congratulations to Charlie, Sophie and Avana for winning this category!
The Mysterious Tree
This competition combined both design and writing. Students read a story starter about two sisters stumbling across a magical tree. They then designed the tree and continued the adventure, imagining what happened to the main characters. Congratulations to Audrey and Isabella for winning this category!
Parade Time!
What would a book week be without a parade?? We enjoyed some absolutely brilliant costumes yesterday, and our entire school had such a fun time. We had princesses, minions, sports stars, Jack and his Beanstalk, Jedi Knights and so much more!
We sincerely thank all of our parents and family members for their effort in attending but also organising costumes. We know there would have been quite a few trips to spotlight or other stores!
We would also like to highlight Konrad (Charlie's dad), Bek, Neville (Anna & Holly's aunt and grandad) and Hannah (Noah & Ezra's little sister) for being family members who attended our parade and dressed up as well!
We highlighted Millie, Minana and Breda for their Book Week spirit, but genuinely all of the outfits were brilliant!
Please enjoy some photos below!
Our staff cannot thank our community and students enough for embracing this week. Reading is such a special thing, but what is truly magical is our wonderful community.
Thank you again!
