Welcome!

A message from the Principal

Congratulations Preps – 100 Days of School

Last Tuesday, 29th July, our Prep students celebrated a significant milestone—100 days of school! This is a remarkable achievement in their learning journey, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished. The theme for their celebration was "100 Days Brighter," and the students certainly stood out in their bright clothes to mark this exciting occasion. Congratulations to our Preps on reaching this fantastic milestone!

Gymnastics Program Continues

We are now two weeks into our gymnastics program at Jet's Gym. The Prep - Year 4 students will enjoy 3 more weeks of gymnastics on Fridays, while our Year 5/6 students will conclude their program at the end of this week. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and we look forward to sharing more photos of our students' achievements through the gymnastics montage!

Upcoming School Closure – 13th August

A reminder that Wednesday, 13th August will be a Pupil Free Day for all schools in the Sandhurst Diocese. This day is dedicated to a Spirituality Day, providing our staff with an opportunity for reflection and reconnection. Please mark this date on your calendar—there will be no school for students on this day.

School Improvement Tool (SIT) Review & Catholic Identity Review

From Tuesday, 29th July to Friday, 1st August, we had the privilege of hosting two important reviews at St. Peter's. These reviews provided an incredible opportunity for ACER and Catholic Education Sandhurst (CES) to speak with staff, students, and parents, gathering valuable feedback on our school’s practices. We are pleased to report that the feedback from the reviewers was overwhelmingly positive. They highlighted many wonderful aspects of our school community, and we are excited to use this feedback to guide our continued growth, both as a faith-based community and in our teaching practices.

Learning Conversations – Thursday 14th August

We are pleased to announce that Learning Conversations will take place on Thursday, 14th August, from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This is an important opportunity for parents and teachers to meet, discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their achievements, and identify areas for further growth.

Please ensure you book a time with your child’s teacher(s) to participate in these valuable conversations. As with previous Learning Conversations, school will finish at 2:15 pm to allow time for the meetings. If you are unable to pick up your child at this time, we will provide supervision in the Knuldoorong.

Open the Doors Foundation Fundraiser

The Opening the Doors Foundation is a First Nations-led organisation that supports First Nations students in Victoria by providing educational opportunities and school supplies. This incredible organisation supports over 1,000 First Nations students to attend school.

This Friday, 8th August, we are hosting a casual clothes day for a gold coin donation in support of the foundation. Please help us support this wonderful cause, and remember that it is also Gymnastics Day, so be sure to wear comfortable clothing!

Book Fair & Book Week

Next week, we will be hosting our Book Fair from 11th to 15th August, giving students the chance to browse and purchase new books. Families are invited to join us on Thursday, 14th August, between 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm to explore the Book Fair. This coincides with our Learning Conversations, so be sure to pop by the Knuldoorong to check out the books available.

The following week, we will celebrate Book Week, with the highlight being Wednesday, 20th August, when students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. The theme for 2025 is ‘Book an Adventure’, and we will also have a special presentation for the students by The Blurbs.

Prayer for the Week

Loving God,

As we gather together this week, we thank You for the diversity and richness of cultures in our school community.

We ask for Your blessing upon our Indigenous students and all the cultures that make up the beautiful tapestry of St. Peter’s.

May we always honour and respect one another, recognising the value of every individual and the contribution they make to our community.

We also pray for peace, unity, and understanding among all people.

We ask this in Your name.

Amen.

God Bless,

Jeremy Darmody
