House Points:

Term Three House Points are back!!!!

Great to see so many students making positive choices and being awarded house points. Continue to be kind to yourself and others to earn house points.

Foundation:

Over the past three weeks, the Foundation students have been exposed to and practising bouncing and catching which is a core component of Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS).

We commenced by practising some ball control drills which asked the students to roll the ball in a figure eight pattern around their leg and roll the ball around their back. From here, we moved on to practising dribbling with both their left and right hand from a stationary position.

During the next lesson we focused on applying their dribbling skills to movement drills such as basic lane work and Rob the Nest.

The last lesson concentrated on practising catching a ball which was delivered by a chest and bounce pass. This was done so through partner work. We then played a game of Beat the Ball.

Year One/Two

Over the past three weeks, the Year One/Two students have been have been refining and practising their bouncing and dribbling skills. During each lesson the students practised these skills through both individual and group play.

To develop the students confidence, they were exposed to ways in which they can control the ball e.g. bouncing height, hand placement and body position. From there, they went on to practise a number of different dribbling skills such as right and left hand and crossovers.

We then moved to applying these skills to games like Rob the Nest and Popcorn. It was wonderful to watch the student's growth over the unit of learning.

Year Three/Four

Over the past four weeks the Year Three/Four have had the opportunity to revisit their fitness and skill test results from Term One. The intention of this was to provide them with the opportunity to improve their scores to highlight their development throughout the year.

The following fortnight saw the students commence a volleyball program which focused on practising the skills of setting, serving, digging and spiking. Once the students demonstrated confidence in these areas, they then applied them to a modified round robin tournament.

Year Five/Six

Over the past four weeks the Year Five/Six have had the opportunity to revisit their fitness and skill test results from Term One. The intention of this was to provide them with the opportunity improve their scores to highlight their development throughout the year.

Division AFL

On Wednesday 30th July, twenty-five of our year 5/6 students represented our school at the Division AFL 9s Mixed and Girls carnival. The students were super excited about being a part of the day and this was visible in the way they approached their matches. The students worked exceptionally well together and the team spirit on display was fantastic to watch. Both teams were successful during the round robin stage and progressed to the grand finals.

Both teams gave it their absolute all but unfortunately fell short in the final result. In saying that, the way the students conducted themselves during the day is something they should all be proud of. Congratulations on taking away second place.
