Camp/5-6 Timetables
5/6 Camp
Wow!! What a fun time we had on camp earlier this term. Leaving on the first day of term, we were all prepared and ready to begin the term in a fun and exciting way!
Students headed to Sovereign Hill to experience life in the 1850's. Camp was divided into different activities: free time exploring Sovereign Hill, night time activities and costume school experience.
A big thank you to our parent helpers Sean, Adrian and Nat for all your amazing help during camp.
Please enjoy looking through the many photos from camp!
Free time exploring Sovereign Hill: All students were given free time to walk around Sovereign Hill and spend some money (mainly on lollies, raspberry drops and toffee apples) in one of the many shops in the museum. We panned for gold down at the creek and went on the Red Hill mine tour.
Night Activities - On Monday night we viewed 'Aura, The Sound and Light Show' which was split into 3 sections: 3D presentation - development of gold and our planets / Light show describing a Dreamtime story / Sound and Light demonstration of the whole Eureka Stockade campaign.
On Tuesday night we explored the 'Winter Wonderlights' experience which was a highlight for many students (and adults). It was a wonderful experience to see the Sovereign Hill museum lit up so brightly and enjoying some fake snow.
Sovereign Hill Costume Schools
On Tuesday and Wednesday our students got into 1850s costumes and attended school with a teacher who was role playing a very convincible 1850s character. After a short time the students understood the role playing situation that was needed and they fitted in very well. A few adjustments had to made from how the school was set up, how they lined up, the games they played and the activities that they took part in. Majority of the students found they enjoyed the experience with many learning new and exciting things about the 1850s Goldfield Life.
