Year One

Communicating with the Year One Team
We are very happy to be partnering with you in 2025, and welcome your input:
When communicating with the Year One team, please reach out via the below email addresses. Your child's class teacher is your first point of contact when requiring a discussion. You will usually see us outside the classrooms at the end of the day. This is the preferred time to catch us for a quick chat as we are focused on greeting the students before school.
Please also note that we have scheduled meetings at 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Year One Teachers:
Ms Zoe Bates (Class 1A) Zoe.Bates@education.vic.gov.au
Mrs. Julie Hall (Class 1B) Julie.Hall@education.vic.gov.au
Mrs Tanya Howell (Class 1C) Tanya.Howell@education.vic.gov.au
Digital Technologies Construction
Our students have had a great time constructing a digital technology device to use in a play.
The students worked in small groups to use boxes and paper to construct a prop they could use as a prop. The students then wrote a short play to explain to others what their device was and describe its use.
Book Week
We are also getting excited for Book Week, with this year’s theme being Book an Adventure. Students are looking forward to dressing up as their favourite book characters on Wednesday 20th August.
Book Fair
The upcoming Book Fair starting on the 5th September will be a wonderful opportunity to explore new books.
It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting term in Year One, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
Term Three Tricky Words
Please don't forget to practise 'tricky words'. These words have irregular spelling patterns and are often difficult for children to sound out, therefore need to be learnt through regular practise and repetition.

Take Home Readers
All Year One students have been given their 'Home Reading Diary' for Term Two. Each week, your child is provided with one hard copy reader to read for the week. We ask that the book is read 3-4 times per week and is logged into your child’s reading diary.
Your child’s reading diary and book needs to be brought back to school every Monday morning to be checked and swapped over by your child’s classroom teacher. We kindly ask that all books are taken care of and returned in good condition every Monday.
Specialist Timetable Term 3
Please note the following information regarding the days that each grade has specialist classes.
These times are subject to change during school-wide events*
