Teaching & Learning - Simone Roche

Dear Families,

We hope all our students had a restful and enjoyable break and are returning recharged for the start of a new semester.

Over the holidays, the College received our NAPLAN results from QCAA. While these assessments focus on Year 7 and Year 9, we know many in our community are interested in how we’re tracking. Below is a snapshot of our overall performance in 2025.

Parents of Year 7 students will note in Table 1 that the College is above state mean in all test domains.

Parents of Year 9 students will note in Table 2 that Mount Alvernia students are also above the state mean in all domains.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of both year level cohorts and look forward to celebrating our NAPLAN award recipients at a special event on 21 August 2025. Families of students receiving awards will be notified closer to the date.

We also wish to recognise the passion and professionalism of our teaching staff. Their ongoing commitment to strengthening literacy and numeracy skills lays the groundwork for our students’ confidence in learning and their success well beyond their time at the College.

Key Updates

  • Parents of Year 11 students are reminded that Unit 1 for the Queensland Certificate of Education has been completed. Students in Applied or General subjects should be able to view their LUI accounts to confirm that they are enrolled in the correct subjects and have received Unit 1 credit (as indicated by an S for Satisfactory).
  • Parents of Year 12 students are reminded that the QCAA has released the External Exam timetable. The College will release more extensive communication in the next few weeks, relating to Year 12 Mocks, EAs and transition.
  • We thank our students and families for your engagement with Homeroom Mentor Review Meetings and SET Planning Meetings this week. We value the partnership of these conversations. The College will build its 2026 timetable based on the subject selections made early this term. Selections must be carefully made to avoid change requests.
