Principal's Report

As we reach the midpoint of Term 3, it is worth pausing to reflect on the richness of school life so far this term. Walking through our corridors, classrooms, and shared spaces, it is impossible not to feel the energy and enthusiasm that comes from being part of such a vibrant and dynamic school community. The last few weeks have been filled with a wide and varied range of activities, each one reminding us that our school is a place where students can pursue their passions, challenge themselves, and celebrate the joy of learning both inside and beyond the classroom.

One of the standout highlights has been our school musical, Bring It On. Staged with flair and professionalism, the production was an incredible showcase of student talent—whether on stage as performers or behind the scenes with lighting, sound, and backstage crew. The musical brought together students from all year levels, exemplifying the spirit of collaboration and the confidence that comes from working as part of a team towards a shared goal. For those of us in the audience, it was a wonderful reminder of the creativity and dedication our students bring to every endeavour.

Another memorable experience this term was the four day snow camp to Mount Buller. Students were able to immerse themselves in the alpine environment, develop resilience in challenging conditions, and embrace the exhilaration of skiing and snowboarding. Camps like these are such an important part of education, giving students the chance to test themselves in new contexts, build strong friendships, and make lasting memories.

On the competitive front, House Chess drew strong participation and fierce, yet friendly, rivalry. It was heartening to see so many students engaged, not only demonstrating strategic thinking and concentration, but also supporting their housemates with pride. Congratulations to Apollo House, who claimed victory in this year’s competition. Events like House Chess remind us that competition and community can go hand in hand, and that there are many ways to contribute to the life of the school.

Our calendar has also been enriched by a series of themed weeks, each one highlighting a different aspect of learning and student wellbeing. Science Week saw experiments, demonstrations, and guest talks that ignited curiosity and celebrated discovery. Book Week encouraged us to dive into the world of reading and storytelling, reminding us of the power of imagination and language. Maths Week engaged students with problem solving challenges and puzzles, celebrating the beauty and logic of mathematics. Green Week provided an opportunity to reflect on sustainability and our role in protecting the environment, while Health and PE Week underscored the importance of physical activity, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles. Each of these weeks has its own flavour, but together they demonstrate the breadth of opportunities available to our students and the dedication of staff who bring these events to life.

When we consider everything that has already taken place this term, it is clear that our school is more than just a place of study, it is a thriving community where students can grow, explore, and discover who they are. I am immensely proud of the way our students embrace the opportunities on offer and grateful to the staff and families who support them. With several weeks still ahead in the term, I look forward to seeing what more we can achieve together.
