Welcome to Term 3!
It is hard to believe that it is Semester 2 already. We hope that all students enjoyed their break and have come back refreshed for the next 9 weeks.
Following on from our very successful Family Maths Night in 2024, we are pleased to announce that we will have a 2025 version on September 1st from 6 - 7pm. This is a perfect way to also celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week (29th August to 4th September).
The night will follow a similar format to last year where parents and students can rotate through the activities at their own pace and problem-solve together.
Please put this in your diaries now. An invitation will be sent in a few weeks so we have an indication of how many people will be attending. Stay tuned!

At the end of Term Two, I had the privilege of attending and presenting at the ALEA/AATE National Conference in Hobart, Tasmania. This annual event brings together educators, researchers, and authors from across the country to share the latest insights into literacy and English teaching.
As part of the program, I presented two sessions—one focused on improving writing instruction and shifting our mindsets beyond standardised tasks, and another that celebrated the work of our very own Grade 3/4 team. I was proud to showcase how our teachers are connecting with students as readers and building classroom cultures where student choice, voice, and engagement with books take centre stage.
It was an energising few days of learning, sharing, and deep professional reflection—and it was exciting to see the innovative work happening at Miners Rest being recognised on a national stage.
