Our Learning - Weeks 4 & 5

English 

To read and write words containing 'ur' 'er' and 'ir' following the Little Learners Love Literacy program. 

To understand the structure of narratives using Mentor texts 'The Very Cranky Bear' and 'The Very Noisy Bear'.  

To write short narratives using capital letters, full stops and describing words. 

MathsTo identify the characteristics of regular and irregular shapes.
InquiryTo understand how our actions can lead to positive change for our planet. 
SEL

To understand that the opposite of violence is respect.

To learn what it means to ask for consent. 

To learn what it means to give or refuse consent. 

News and Reminders:

  • Book Week Parade – Monday 18th August Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character for our Book Week Parade. The parade will take place in the morning, giving all students the opportunity to showcase their costumes to the whole school.
  • Ambulance Incursion - Wednesday 27th August Students will have the exciting opportunity to learn about the role of a paramedic and explore the inside of an ambulance. This incursion is free. 
  • Urban Upcycle Incursion - Thursday 4th September This term, Year 1 students are studying Sustainability for our Inquiry Unit, "Where does our Rubbish End Up?" This involves recycling, reusing and reducing waste. To complement this Inquiry unit, Urban Upcycle are coming to run an incursion where the students will make recycled creations. This incursion will be available soon on Compass for you to pay and give consent.
