Our Learning - Weeks 4 & 5

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

-To identify the emotions people can have when others are being mean or violent and

to describe the actions or words that fit with the words ‘friendly’ and ‘fair’.

-To learn what is meant by the term ‘gender-based violence’.

-To suggest ways that classmates can help each other to be fair and friendly.

English:

-To explore CCVC (consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant) and CVCC (consonant, vowel, consonant, consonant) words.

To recognise the /k/ sound, consisting of consonant digraph ‘ck’ and identify words that are spelt with the consonant digraph 'ck'.

-To make inferences by using the pictures to ‘read’ what is happening in the story.

-To explore non-fiction texts.

-To write descriptive sentences with sentence starters.

-To recognise and use question marks to write questions.

Maths:

-To explore subtraction by making a starting number, take some away and figure out what is left. 

-To solve subtraction number stories using different strategies.

-To go through Maths Daily Review to revisit and consolidate learning.

Inquiry:

-To explore different habitats and the animals that live there.

-To learn about mammals: the monotremes- the echidna and platypus.  

 

Friendly Reminders:

-Blue Reader bags- please send these to school with your child every day.

-Book Week Parade- Monday, 18th August. Students can dress up as their favourite book character and participate in the parade. After the parade, parents and carers are invited back to their child's classroom to participate in an activity with them. 

-Moonlit Sanctuary Excursion- Wednesday, 10th September. This event is on Compass, ready for consent and payment.
