Our Learning - Weeks 4 & 5
The children in the 3 and 4 year old kindergarten groups have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading: Book walks - extracting information from pictures Using illustrations from picture story books as prompt for their artwork and developing their own storylines to accompany these Retelling familiar stories through small world play, art and dramatisations |
Pre-Writing: Signing in on arrival; writing their names on their work Creating letters and letter shapes with loose parts and play dough Building muscle strength from core muscles, to shoulder and arm muscles and to hand and finger muscles Writing and posting letters to family and friends |
STEM : For the children to develop their understanding and recognition of numbers from 1 to 10 For the children to explore the properties of magnets and begin to develop an understanding of attraction and repulsion |
Inquiry : Our World, Many Stories- through stories we can explore our imagination and experience different cultures Dressing up in costume to act out familiar and imagined stories Making characters from familiar stories in salt dough Reading books representing different cultures Exploring how stories can be told through music |
Social & emotional learning : Exploring different emotions through story telling Discussions about how to be a good friend Games involving sharing and turn taking Developing resilience through group games |
Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
