Year 9 Food Studies Students Explore Hospitality at Novotel

Year 9 Food Studies (Minor) students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Novotel hotel for an immersive behind-the-scenes look at the hospitality industry. The excursion began with a guided tour through various parts of the hotel, including guest rooms, the reception area, and the professional kitchen. Students were fascinated to see how different spaces are designed and maintained to create a welcoming experience for guests.

Throughout the day, students heard from a range of industry professionals. The head chef, business manager, guest services manager and HR representatives all shared their career journeys, highlighting the wide variety of roles available in hospitality. They also discussed the important skills needed in this field, such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.

This excursion offered valuable insights into the daily operations of a hotel and the career pathways available in the food and hospitality sector. It was an inspiring and educational experience for all students involved. Our students represented DCS well throughout the excursion.
