Pastoral and Well-being News

Term 2 is always a very busy term. Students from all years have completed numerous assessment tasks and all students from Yrs 7 to 12 will now have received their Semester 1 Report. Take the time to read through the report with your child. Pay particular attention to the ways of working. Is your child striving to do their best in class, whatever that may look like. Reflecting on the Semester 1 report enables your child to set a good Learning Goal for Semester 2.

The last few weeks have been a busy time for Year 11. The Wellbeing Committee have led their peers in undertaking the Push Up Challenge. The homerooms challenged each other and along the way raised valuable funds for Headspace Griffith. At the end of the challenge the Yr 11 Homerooms had a tally of almost 33 000 pushups! Absolutely amazing effort. As a fitting end to two very busy terms Year 11 had their Community Day on Thursday July 3. They spent a few hours with Chris Doyle from Karis Ministries. Using music, conversation and reflection Chris encourages the students to look into themselves, the person they are, who they want to be, how they can be supportive friends and work together as a team. Feedback from the students is very positive and the day is always an enjoyable one.

On Wednesday July 2 year 7 participated in a presentation by Life Education - Reality Now. The focus was on Vaping. Reality Now is a student-centred alcohol and drug education program for secondary students. They aim to equip young people with the skills to stay safe from drug-related harms, grounding the choices young people make. The Year 7 students were engaged and feedback has been very positive.
