Walk to School Day
Friday 10 May was National Walk Safely to School Day. Thank you for walking to school. We hope you took the opportunity to speak to your family about road safety and the benefits of active travel.
Ride2School Day Report
On Friday 22nd March it was Ride 2 Schools Day. Many students from across the year levels rode, scooted, walked, or took public transport, instead of driving. This year, based on recorded data, 325 students from across the year levels participated in R2SD.
The classes with the most people participating were…
in the junior school (Prep - 2), Prep B!
And in the senior school (3 - 6), 3C! Congratulations to these two classes, they both received a prize of icy poles for their commitment to R2SD! Overall it was a great success.

Student Environmental Leadership Program
Last term, students in grade three-six in the green team had a SELP (Student Environmental Leadership Program) . Kate from CERES came to our school to teach us about waste.
CERES (Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies) is a company that was invented by school students. The area that CERES is in now used to be a landfill.
We did a waste audit, talked about linear thinking and made reusable bags out of old t-shirts! We were taught about how different types of waste can be removed from landfill or even better, not dumped there! We look implementing some of the actions we thought of for our school.

2024 Eucalypt of the Year
And the winner is...the Corymbia ficifolia, the incredible Red-Flowering Gum! See if you can find it in our school garden!
They are loved by a range of birds including Lorikeets, Rosellas, Wattlebirds, Currawongs as well as a variety of bees. The Red-Flowering Gum has dark, glossy leaves reminiscent of a fig tree – hence the name fici (ficus or fig-like) folia (leaves). The huge red flowers bloom between November and March and cover the ends of branches in a stunning show of colour, before falling to reveal gumnuts.
