Community Initiative – The Alphington Commons

The Alphington Collective is a collaboration of  local community groups, social enterprises, and residents with a vision for our neighbourhood. They are advocating to have the site at 2 Wingrove Street, Alphington be transformed into a space that serves the community and the environment – The Alphington Commons.

The Alphington Commons is a collective vision to:

  • Transform an ex-industrial site (at 2 Wingrove Street) into a thriving public space that serves the community.
  • A place that is safeguarded for our children and future generations to enjoy, where the circular economy thrives, where people can connect with Country, culture, nature and each other.
  • The vision brings together a premier food precinct, for-purpose business and social enterprise, regenerative farming practice, and a world-class Bush Kinder hub to serve the children of Darebin into the future.
  • Many families at FPS will have participated in bush kindergarten programs at Westgarth, Yarralea or Alfred Nuttall kindergartens. These providers are coming together to ensure that they can continue and enhance this offering and meet future demand.
