Performing Arts

Ms Lisa Bourke

This term in Performing Arts lessons, all classes are focusing on the Arts area of Drama. Many children are working outside their comfort zone, learning about, practising and performing short dramas in a variety of styles. In F-2, students have explored mime – using facial expressions and movement to create and maintain characters. The year 3-6 students have enjoyed a freeze game, where they have been required to work cooperatively with sporadic random groups of peers to “form” themselves into a variety of objects such as a table, car or sausages and mash! Check out their objects!

This term also marked the revival of the school choir. A small group of students have been learning techniques to develop their singing voice and about singing as a choir member - a much harder skill than just singing by yourself! Choir members are required to listen to each other and work together to blend their voices. The choir rehearses on Tuesday at second play in the music room - all students are welcome to join! Next week, the choir will lead the school in the national anthem at assembly and sing a short round-song.
