Health during the colder months

Well, we are coming into a colder season, so we must ensure we care for the little people in our lives and ourselves. Here are a few strategies to (as much as possible) keep the germs away:

  • Ensure children practice hand washing regularly.
  • Ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
  • Help them learn good respiratory hygiene – like coughing into their elbow.
  • Sleep, a varied healthy diet, and drinking lots of fluids help their immune system to be the best it can be.
  • Get outdoors when it’s sunny to soak up that vitamin D.

At St Joseph's, we do our best to ensure regular handwashing and sanitising of shared equipment is done on a daily. Using air purifiers will also help with air circulation in the classrooms.

Upcoming Wellbeing information night

In our last Newsletter, we posted a date for an upcoming Wellbeing night. However, we must reschedule this night due to changes in some arrangements and individuals presenting. We will keep you posted as soon as possible when we have an alternative date that suits our presenters.

The night will be for both parents and students. There will be an element of a presentation regarding our school-wide behaviour system- Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL), so that we can ensure that our families have an insight into the purpose of this program in conjunction with our school values- Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. There will be a few other things that will be happening on the night including a complimentary dinner! We will continue to refine the details and let you know once they are confirmed.

Friendship Groups

Last week in Friendship Groups, we decided to make a school display that showcased a little piece of every student's identity. Students were given a wooden disk to draw a self-portrait and create a background that included their interests. This is what they look like so far! We will assemble them to make a display in our main building.
