TERM 2 TUTOR ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

The Tutor Enrichment Program continues to work across a range of year levels to enrich the learning of many students.

In term 2, students in Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 will take part in the program. We have five tutors working in a range of structures to best support our students and their teachers. 

This includes:

• 1:1 tutoring 
• small withdrawal groups
• in class support

Our tutors include:

Libby Kurc working with Prep students focused on literacy.

Natalie Bowerman working with Year 1 and Year 2 students focused on literacy.

Sharon Meeking working with Year 1 students focused on literacy.

Katherine Bell working with Year 1 students focused on mathematics and Year 5 and 6 students focused on literacy.

Kalliopi Tsavaris working with Year 1 students focused on mathematics and Year 5 and 6 students focused on literacy.

Term 2 – Year 1 – Tutor learning – Intervention Update

In Year 1, the children are using their knowledge of letters and sounds to be able to write dictated sentences. We use the alphabet chart in case we forget a letter. They are learning to use the COPS (capitalisation/organisation/punctuation/spelling) template to help check through their work. They check for the correct use of capitals, the sentence makes sense, that they are using the correct punctuation and that the words are spelt correctly. 

Term 2 – Year 2 – Tutor learning – Intervention Update

In year 2, the students are learning to use and identify some of the different spellings for the long sound of ‘e’. They completed different activities to confidently read, write and spell with these spellings. After practicing some reading and spelling the students wrote some sentences to include ‘e’ spellings. They also read a non-fiction book about Jellyfish and then selected some words from the book to add to a word sorting exercise in their writing books.

Ongoing tutor monitoring of student growth throughout the program and continual connection with class teachers, reveals pleasing progress for our students who have already been on the tutor program.
