Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Culture Week at UHS!
During lunch times of late April and early May, our school embraced an array of cultures - from the captivating attires, enticing cuisine to the spirited performances that were ‘ones to remember’. Culture week was executed through dance, music and storytelling, as we all celebrated the beauty of diversity with zest. Students of 2024 have truly outdone themselves showcasing a plethora of unique identities, whilst also portraying our school spirit of combined unity. Let's carry on this spirit and cherish these memories as we continue fostering inclusivity and cultural diversity at University High School.

What happened during Culture Week? It was a time to celebrate our differences and respect each other's cultures. There were many activities throughout the week for students to participate in and it got traditional! The music was varied and it was very fun listening to people sing along with it.
MONDAY - THURSDAY
The flags hanging on the trees in the Quad, the flag face painting and the henna were beautifully created. People got their faces painted with their flag. The beautiful henna designs were drawn on with their hands.
FRIDAY
During recess, there was an EAL Student Morning Tea to celebrate all cultures and their languages. They got to try popular food from different cultures. The delicacies varied from spring rolls, mochis, lamingtons and more! Sooooo delicious!
Lights, camera, action, time for the runway show! People looked beautiful in their traditional wear! Indian dances, Korean pop music, and Chinese singing and lots more performances were performed. On Friday people wore cultural clothing that looked fabulous and well-decorated! It was also so interesting to see the wonderfully dressed students! We had people from unique backgrounds and it was amazing to see how they dressed.
Shout-out to Young Women’s Club for planning this awesome event and another shout-out to the SRC for helping out. All the funds to the Sausage Sizzle went to the Caritas Congolese Foundation.
