Year 10 Elevate Session

During Connect in Week 4, we invited Elevate Educations to provide all year 10 classes a seminar named Study Sensei. The seminar was designed to achieve behavioral change amongst students and teach them to apply the skills they learn.

A feature of Elevate Education that students quite enjoyed was their young and relatable presenters, who offered fresh studying advice and techniques to students who are similar to them in age. The seminar started off with a few invigorating questions to engage the students. Immediately, students felt engaged and included within the seminar, answering questions passionately. Subsequently, a 5-page booklet was presented to each student with note-taking formats and the importance of certain studying procedures included within it. Instead of taking a ‘offering’ approach, Elevate Education ensured that the booklist had missing information, of which students needed to actively seek out answers for. As the seminar progressed, each page of the booklet was then carefully filled out by students. The seminar, itself, was certainly engaging, too. Young presenters were frequently throwing out questions, such as ‘how many of you are taking a VCE subject?’ during the seminar. Of course, the audience felt deeply included.

The seminar concluded with students all content with what they have learnt from the past hour and a half.

Students can connect with Elevate education’s online learning community, with easy to access post seminars and a wide range of digital resources. Examples of resources within Elevate Education include practice questions, exam walk-through videos and study tips from former top students. You can find these resources on their website here.
