Year 7
Assistant Principal's Report
A very warm welcome to all of our new year 7 families and those already part of the college with a child in year 7 this year. Transitioning from grade 6 into year 7 can present many challenges, and the year 7 team recognises this and has been working hard at the start of the year to integrate our new students. This work started with two days of ‘Setting up for Success’. It was a great opportunity for students to become more accustomed with the college, including getting to know others in their class and the processes of a secondary school.
As a college we recognise that everyone is different and has different social, emotional and learning needs. The program that the year 7 team have created is an environment where all students feel supported. This begins with their tutor teacher and the pastoral care program. Their tutor teacher is their advocate, someone they can go to for advice or assistance. It is always good to see that bond strengthened as the year progresses.
There were also many excited students last week when our break time clubs started. This is a great opportunity for all year 7’s to attend clubs of their interest to meet other students who have that same interest, whether that be other year 7’s or some of the older students. It is a great way to also meet teachers who have the same interests as your child.
If you haven’t met any of the year 7 staff yet, there is an opportunity to meet the year 7 Level Leader, Co-ordinator and tutor teachers at our Meet and Greet BBQ on Wednesday 21st February from 5 - 6pm. It also gives you the opportunity to touch base with your child’s tutor teacher to see how your child has transitioned to our college.
The College offers a wide range of supports for families and students, including uniform support through our Student Services team for those families who have a Health Care Card. The uniform is something we take pride in and the expectation is that students are at school every day, in uniform and ready to learn.
The college looks forward to working with you to ensure your child’s needs are catered for, not just academically but also socially and emotionally, and that this is just the beginning of a six year partnership investing in your child’s education.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 7
The beginning of the school year has seen a warm and enthusiastic welcome to our Year 7 students. Teachers and staff members have worked tirelessly to create a welcoming environment, ensuring that our Year 7s have felt a sense of belonging from the very first day. This positive atmosphere has contributed to a smooth transition from Grade 6 and has fostered a strong sense of community within the school, this certainly sets a positive tone for the months and years ahead.
Already, the Year 7 students have demonstrated exceptional achievements including more than 70% of students attending 100% of the time and hundreds of recognitions of our Year 7's working in a positive, respective, cooperative and excellent manner. Academic accomplishments, artistic endeavours, and sport triumphs will be celebrated with pride at our Year level assemblies. It's inspiring to see the enthusiasm and sense of pride of our students being recognized and applauded, this sets the stage for a year of continued success.
Thank you to the parents/guardians that attended our parent information evening about the Healthy Minds program that the Year 7s will be beginning next week. By working together with our students’ families, we are all able to benefit – students, families and teachers.
Please keep contacting your child’s tutor teacher about attendance, any concerns and any celebrations we should know about.
