Year 10, 11 & 12

Assistant Principal's Report

I hope that all students and their families have had a wonderful holiday and are ready for the new school year.  I look forward to working with and supporting all Year 10, 11 and 12 students and their families in working towards the completion of a successful secondary school education.

It is with high expectations, the building of a partnership between the College and families, along with two-way communication, which will see the fulfilment of every student’s hopes and aspirations.

We appreciated your attendance at the Step-Up Tutor Teacher conference meetings at the end of last year and a reminder that your first point of contact is your child’s Tutor Teacher who you would have met at this time.  I encourage you to make this contact if you have any concerns so that they can be dealt with in a timely manner.

We would like to invite all parent’s/carer’s of Year 11 and 12 students to attend a parent information evening, on Tuesday 20th February from 6pm-7pm in the College Auditorium. During the evening, there will be valuable presentations by the Leading Teacher’s discussing College and VCAA requirements, expectations, future pathway information and a past student question and answer session.  We look forward to meeting you on Tuesday 20th February at 6pm, in the College Auditorium.

The School Captains form part of the student leadership team at the College and they represent the student body.  The elected School Captains did a great job as the Masters of Ceremony at our Awards afternoon, at the end of 2023 and I am sure that they will do a fantastic job throughout this year.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 10

It has been a productive start in Year 10, with everyone starting to knuckle down and complete their study towards their first assessments. Our theme for this term is ‘stepping up with high expectations’, and our students are getting ready for a busy first year of senior school at the college.

The Year 10 tutor team has set up a few initiatives to help our students stay on track, including our assessment calendar on our Class of 2026 Team channel. This will help students plan with their families for when they have busy weeks of assessment. As our students find casual work after school and team sports start back, it is a timely reminder that school needs to be prioritised. We will help students to effectively manage their time through our tutor program, and have a guest speaker from Elevate Education come in to present more strategies to help them.

Last week students voted in our SRC and Class Captain elections, where we ran a ballot in our assembly time. Everyone took the process seriously and thank you to those who put their hands up to run. Successful candidates will be announced shortly.

Thank you to all families for helping our Year 10's start school so well, and we look forward to working with you closely to get the best for them. Keep up to date through the school’s parent bulletins, and through the weekly emails you should be receiving from your child’s tutor teacher.
