The Start Up Program @ DPS

At the start of every school year, DPS classes do a Start Up Program which is designed to set students up for success throughout the year. Activities within the Start Up Program are designed to foster new friendships, highlight students strengths and ensure all class members understand the rules, routine and expectations.

Here is what the students think about the Start Up Program:

Chloe D 5E - I feel responsible as a senior school member so I can be a role model for the younger kids. I am also very happy that I am in Miss El-bay's class. It is amazing in class, there is a little bit of discussion but it is mostly quiet when we are working. My favourite activity that we have done is the best part of me lesson, I could write freely and got to describe what I like most about myself.

Roxana R 5E - Being in the senior school is great. I have built stronger relationships with my friends.  My favourite lesson was the all about me activity because I got to share all my favourite things and learn about all my class mates. I enjoy being in grade five a lot.

Adrina B 5C - I have thoroughly enjoyed the first three weeks of the start up program at DPS. Mrs Coumaros has been very welcoming and kind. We have been busy preparing for NAPLAN in Grade 5.

Anna C 5C - The first three weeks of school have been fun. We have been reading the class novel Boy Overboard, which is really interesting. I am particularly happy for becoming JSC representative for my class.

Mika 5C - I really like sitting on the class bench rather than the floor in Grade Five. We have set up for the term quite easily and very fast. I am looking forward to it!!!

Valencia 6M - I've loved coming back to school and seeing my friends and teachers, its been great doing activities to get to know each other better in our new classes.

Rayhan 6M - I've had a lot of fun doing different activities in the last 2 weeks. It's been good learning about rules, expectations and our school values.

Shristhi 6M - I've loved getting to know my teacher and learning new stuff about my classmates through different activities like surveys and graphs.

Shekhar 6J - We have been some game to get to know each other. We played a game called Bibbidy Bobbedy Bo to be able to think quickly when something happens.

Aryana 6J – We played a maths game to help with memory and to really listen to what people say. We have learnt new facts about people, getting into good routines and getting to meet our buddy. I have already connected with my buddy and have shown them round the school.
