Fun at McAuley

The students of Catherine McAuley celebrated shrove Tuesday with delicious pancakes smothered with maple syrup! YUM! YUM! Look at the photos of the happy children

The name Shrove Tuesday comes from the old word 'shriving', which means to listen to someone's sins and forgive them. In Anglo-Saxon England, Christians would go to church on Shrove Tuesday to confess their sins and clean their soul. In other words, they would be 'shriven'.

Now we eat pancakes! (And then fast for the 40 days of lent)

Bike safety

Today Year 6 had a special guest Mr Steve Maguire.  He taught some of the Year 6 students some bike safety rules. In this session the kids enjoyed watching a powerpoint and clips about bike safety. We looked at bike maintenance check which included ABCD. A for air in the Tyres, B for Brakes, C for Components (seat, handlebars, pedals, chain etc) D is for Drop.  Then they went outside and Mr Maguire went through the maintenance check with the students and checked that the helmets fit the heads properly. Then the students all had a ride around the playground through an obstacle course to check skills. The Year 6 students had a great time.
