Shine the Light

Foundation
The Foundation rooms were a hub of energy as the students 'pampered' their mothers as a thankyou for everything!
Year 1
The Year 1 students are learning about the different classification of animals. This week they learnt about fish! In this experiment, the student discovered how fish get oxygen from water.
Year 2
The Year 2 students are learning about the properties of materials and the actions you can apply to materials to change them. For example, bending! There was little doubt that bending pipe cleaners to make their own fun glasses was a favourite activity!
Year 5
The Year 5 students have been learning about different Animal Adaptations in their Inquiry Unit. One experiment involved the students covering only one hand in lard (to represent blubber) and then placing both hands in a bucket of ice-water. The students were absolutely shocked to feel how effective the fat layer was in terms of restricting the feeling of cold!
Year 6
In Year 6, the students are learning about States of Matter, in particular, Solids, Liquids and Gases! What observational properties would you see to help you identify if something is a solid, liquid or gas? The Year 6 students are on the unt for some 'pop-up' bottle tops for their next experiment - can you help?
