Marine Ambassadors Excursion

Marine Ambassadors Report

On the day of my amazing trip to Sorrento to see the dolphins I was extremely pumped to go see the dolphins and other things that were awaiting me. Me, Mercy, Layla and Josh were all extremely excited to swim with the dolphins and see the sea life. When we got there we waited until they brought out the snorkelling equipment and the wetsuits. We put on the stuff and then headed onto the boat. We headed to the first part of the boat ride: The seal spot. In this specific area there is a little hut on top of the 20m water which holds over a hundred of seals including a huge stingray swimming around the hut which had an amazing colour scheme that was so beautiful. All of the marine ambassadors (including some from other schools) slipped into the freezing cold water with huge waves passing by us every second. We all started to swim around the little hut with the huge stingray 10m under our feet. Me, Mercy, Layla and Josh stayed together when we went around the hut. After around five minutes of swimming around the hut with a snorkel, flippers and a suit we were all called to move back to the boat. We all went back to the boat and then we got some free hot chocolate from the kind people on the boat. Then we saw the thing we came here for: Dolphins!!! We were just on the boat when we spotted 4 fins popping out of the water. All of us were very excited to see them even though we didn’t get to swim with them. Then we arrived at the last sea life destination: the weedy seahorse spot. This spot is a controlled reef which is protected by a group of people working to help and protect the sea life. We swam around the protected reef led by a person who knows the spot extremely well.  Most of us saw a Bendigo shark and a few found the weedy seahorse. Then after a long day at the awesome sea we went back to our starting point in Sorrento and hopped off the boat and headed home.
