From the Office

From our Acting Principal

Whilst last week was only very short at school, it was great to welcome everyone back after the holidays and the Easter break. Thank you for the warm welcome I have received from those I have run into so far and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone over the next few weeks. Last week I enjoyed getting to know our Grade P/1 students who I’ll be teaching for the first part of the week before Jess takes over for the second half. Hayden is on leave at the moment as well and will be back with us next week, Mrs. Jobe and Mrs. Kane have been filling in for Hayden and both have mentioned how lovely they have found it getting to know our school. As I am teaching for the first part of the week, please try to aim for a Thursday or Friday if you need to catch up with me.

Pupil Free Day – Next Monday will be a Pupil Free Day for students and there will be no school on this day. Our teachers will be participating in their Community of Practice at California Gully PS with the other members of our Bendigo Small Schools Cluster. Most of this day will focus on Professional Learning for staff surrounding the teaching of writing, along with the opportunity to work alongside other teachers who work in a similar setting to us.

Mother’s Day Breakfast & Stall – On the morning of Friday 9th of May we be holding a Mother’s Day Breakfast from 8.30am. We look forward to welcoming our Mum’s into school if you’re able to join us. Breakfast will be ready from 8.30am and we expect to wrap up by 9.30am ready to head into our normal Friday activities. Students are welcome to invite another special person to come along if their Mum can’t make it. We will also be holding a small Mother’s Day stall on this day, students are welcome to bring along up to $5 to purchase a gift for Mum.

Cluster Winter Sports Day – On Wednesday 14th May, Grade 3-6 students will head over to Colbinabbin with Mr. Collins to join our Campaspe Cluster schools for Winter Sports Day. Students can participate in their choice of Netball, Football or Soccer. Permission slips will be on uEducateUs shortly to be signed please .

10 Pin Bowling Program – Beginning on Wednesday 21st May, we will be undertaking a 5-week block of 10 Pin Bowling in Bendigo as part of the Sporting Schools program. Thanks to Mr. Collins for organising this great activity! Permission slips will be on uEducateUs shortly to be signed please.

Thanks, James Sait

That's all for this week- James Sait

News from Bree in the office

Pie Warmer Lunches

We are pleased to announce that our pie warmer will be operational on all school days during Terms 2 and 3. Students are encouraged to bring a variety of items that can be heated, ensuring these are wrapped in foil or placed in a foil container to ensure safety and efficiency (please refrain from using plastic or metal cans, as they cannot be heated in the pie warmer).

In previous years, we have successfully heated a diverse range of delicious options, including pastries, toasted sandwiches,  pasta and rice dishes, leftover roast dinners, and even pizza. We would like to emphasize the importance of making nutritious food choices; therefore, we kindly request that all meals sent to school reflect healthy options.

Pie & Slice Drive

We are running a Pie & Slice drive fundraiser! Each family has received order forms, which are also available at the Raywood Post Office. Additionally, there is a flyer attached to the Community Page in this edition of the Newsletter.

Please ask your friends and family if they would like to purchase some delicious treats from the famous Bridgewater Bakehouse to help support our school. With the colder weather coming, these pies will be excellent additions to your freezer, making them perfect for our Term 2 pie warmer.

If you have any questions, need additional order forms, or have any other inquiries related to the pie drive, please contact Bree.

 Thank you for your support!

Thank you, Bree.
