Visual Arts

From the Visual Arts room.

Foundation

Students read the book 'My Mum is Great'. Students discussed why they think their mum is great. They learnt the word portrait and drew a portrait of their mum in black marker. They then used coloured poster paint to fill in the face and background.

Grades 1 and 2

With the beautiful Autumn weather, the students went outside 'en plein air' to draw one of our lovely trees. Students used grey lead pencil on orange paper and were encouraged to look at the shape of the tree, the branches and leaves.

Grades 3 and 4

Students looked at artworks that have waves as the subject and discussed their preferences. Then, students discussed different ways that paint can be applied to paper and the different effects that can be created. Brushes, sponges and fingers were used to create the movement of water and waves.

Grades 5 and 6

Students have been exploring the colours and textures of a reef. Using part of a picture of a reef, students chose to use coloured pencils, grey lead pencils or black fine line pens to extend the drawing of the reef. In particular, the students needed to create and explore the use of texture.

Just take a moment to ....

go outside 'en plein air' with a pencil and paper and draw a tree in your local environment. It is a great way to enhance your observation skills, your mental well-being and connecting to nature.
