This Fortnight In Literacy

By Laani 6PW

Australia is home to some of the world’s most unique animal species. A growing number  of Australian animals are endangered due to factors such as habitat loss, urban

development, and the impacts of extreme weather and disasters. This term Team 5-6 are researching an endangered animal so that we can help to inform others about the

need to protect them. In week 3 we started on our explanation texts about Australian endangered animals. Some of the main things we are reaserching about is why they are endangered, how they defend themselves, their habitat, if they migrate and their life cycle.

Some of the endangered animals we are researching includes:

This Fortnight in Numeracy

by Zavier 6SC

This fortnight in numeracy has been a busy one! Students have been looking at many topics and skills, like fractions. With fractions, they have looked at:

-Finding fractions on a number line

-Using fraction walls

-Comparing and ordering fractions

-finding equivalent fractions

-Simplifying fractions

They have also begun looking at elapsed time, as well as ratios. To practise using ratios, they have begun enlarging a small map of Australia using a 1:2 ratio.

It sure has been a busy week, so give yourself a pat on the back for doing your best!
