News and Notices

We’ve had a wonderful start of Term 2 and it has been a delight to see happy children engaged in learning throughout our school each day.

Our school community is a big part of what makes our school so special and we appreciate the positive example parents and carers set for our students.  Their support, friendly interactions and shared investment in the success of our students is greatly appreciated by Team Tally (i.e. staff) and helps to maintain our culture of care.  Thank you to our school community members for smiles, chats, high 5s, kind words and partnership!

Tally CommUNITY Day

We are excited about our annual Tally CommUNITY Day this term.  This event provides a day of unity for wellbeing, kindness and antibullying.  We combine recognition of Harmony Day and the National Day Against Bullying and Violence to say, "'Yes' to kindness and wellbeing and 'No' to bullying".

Parents and carers have been invited to join us with additional information via ClassDojo and we love sharing times like this with families.

This is an inclusive event that allows all students to participate in free activities during the school day, including morning moves and a disco.  Students may wear an item of orange (with their school uniform and school shoes) to reflect their stand against bullying and for kindness and respect.  Orange socks, hair accessories or t-shirts are great options and need to be sun safe (e.g. no strapless and midriff shirts).

Prep 2026

Partnering with us early, supports your child’s successful transition to school.  If you haven’t already submitted your child’s enrolment paperwork for Prep next year, please do this as soon as possible so that you can be added to the invitation list for important pre-Prep events.

ANZAC Day

Through our acknowledgment of ANZAC Day, we support learning about our history, gratitude for service of our country, respect and the continuation of the ANZAC spirit, with the strong commonalities with The Tally Way.

Our Anzac Day ceremonies were held on Thursday, 24 April.   Our Year 3 to Year 6 students participated in a complete service and we were honoured and grateful to have Major Edward Plant as our special guest and speaker.  The choir performance, Year 6 poetry recital, Year 5 singing the New Zealand National Anthem and class representatives laying wreaths contributed to the respectful commemoration and were moving.

Our ANZAC ceremony for our younger children (Years 1 and 2) was shorter to be age appropriate and included educational information, short speeches and the laying of wreaths.  Our Preps learnt about ANZAC Day in their classrooms.

We distributed rosemary from our gardens as a symbol of remembrance to our students on the day.

On ANZAC Day, student leaders joined Mrs Harlow (Principal), Ms McNabb (DP), Mr David King (Yr 4 Teacher) and Ms Rixon (Science Teacher) to represent our school by participating in the march at Currumbin.  Our school captains Isla and Noah laid a wreath on our behalf during the service at the Currumbin RSL.

Braveheart's Ditto Show

Students in Prep to Year 2 attended the 'Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show' this Wednesday.  This show provides students with personal safety tools and strategies while supporting positive self-esteem and resilience building. The Ditto show compliments the Health curriculum provided by our school.

Parent and School Teaching and Non-Teaching School Council Member Announcement

Thank you to the people who recently nominated for membership of our school council. Congratulations to Rebecca Plant who was elected as the Parent School Council Member, Stephen Gaggin (teaching staff member) and Kathy Wright (non-teaching staff member).

Mother’s Day Stall

Thank you to our fabulous P&C and volunteers for running our annual Mother’s Day stall!  The stall is done as a service to our school families, with the aim to cover costs, not raise money.  This wouldn't be possible without the generosity of volunteers who gave their time to prepare and run this for our community.  A big shout out to Emma and Kristy for working with P&C Executive team members and being the coordinators of this event.

Students enjoyed visiting the stall and selecting gifts for a special person in their lives.

Happy Mother's Day to all our special parents and carers for this Sunday!

 P&C Meeting

The next P&C meeting is scheduled for Friday, 16 May at 9:00am in our school library.  This meeting recognises P&C Day 23 May and the school is excited to celebrate this day with P&C members by holding a morning tea on this morning.  On behalf of Tallebudgera State School, thank you to our P&C for their incredible work to help our students, school and community!

Uniform Reminder

The vast majority of our students look fabulous in full uniform every day thanks to the support of their parents and carers.  We highly recommended naming belongings (e.g. jumpers and hats) to enable misplaced items to be returned.  The uniform includes plain white socks (no logos) and plain black shoes (no coloured or white soles or laces).

Carpark

The work to increase the capacity of the staff carpark near the hall is nearing completion and we are pleased that this will achieve the intended outcome of making more parking available for parents, carers and other visitors near our school.
