Hello Families!
It's hard to believe we are already done with Week 4! We began this term with our Numeracy Tapestry Main Lesson and will continue this during our practise sessions this term. We are spending extra time on this lesson because it incorporates many foundational skills for the next few years of mathematics, so I want to ensure each student understands the concepts. As part of this lesson, students have been working on knot tying and finger strings. They have really embraced the simple delight of the Eifel Tower, cat whiskers, and many other finger strings shapes!

This week we began part 2 of our Norse Narratives Main Lesson where we will explore the second half of the Norse stories through to Ragnarök. We will also cover some aspects of Viking history. Through this content, we will be working on utilising punctuation and correct capitalisation while writing, summarising, and making inferences about characters in a story.
The students have been enthusiastically working on their cursive writing. It is also an exercise in character development for some students because it requires focus, effort, and trying over and over again. We are also having some lovely discussions during our Book Club meetings, and it is a joy to observe the literature coming alive for the students.
In other big news, the class has decided to spend part of our fundraising money on a fish tank for the class. To determine the names of the fish we will do a survey, graph the results, and then majority rules, so stay tuned for our new class pets' names!
Have a relaxing weekend!
Blessings,
Brittany
