BSC Smoking Ceremony

Recently, we were fortunate to have Joy Oldaker perform a Welcome to Country at a whole school assembly. After formally recognising the new artwork display in the Drama Centre, created collectively by our Year 7 students and Wadawurrung artist, Jenna Oldaker (Murrup Art), Aunty Joy and Jenna conducted a smoking ceremony. The smoke, created using native plants, assists in cleansing the area and the people, to promote the protection and well-being of those who walk on Wadawurrung Country. We would like to express our thanks to both Jenna and Joy, for taking the time to perform this service for the school.
